Canon Ian celebrates his 80th birthday

The congregation turned out in force, as did many of his friends and previous congregants from Forfar and Brechin. After the service, Jean-Marie Meny brought out a remarkable cake, made by his own skilled hands, which showed a coloured image of the church in the icing. Then, following a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday, everyone enjoyed the cake, along with glasses of Buck's Fizz and cups of coffee.

A sit-down lunch for 30 then followed in the Glencarse Hotel, organised by Sue Osborne, where Jean-Marie surprised all by producing yet another fantastic cake for dessert. Graham Nicholson gave a short speech on Ian's behalf and thanked Sue Osborne and Lena Singer of the Glencarse Hotel for hosting the event and providing such delicious food.
