Canon Ian Young uses his remarkable musical connections to bring us this wonderful recital given by Ellen Mawhinney (soprano) and Daniel Peter Silcock (piano)
Daniel is an old friend of ours at Glencarse, having performed here many times. Daniel is a Samling artist and was a Britten-Pears Young Artist 2025-26. In North America he was a Carnegie Hall Young Artist with Renee Fleming and he is also an Art of Song fellow of the Toronto Summer Music. Daniel took up a fellowship at Cincinnati Song Initiative in May 2026 and in November he will be an official accompanist
at the Shanghai Song Competition in China. Together with Ellen, he has been appointed an Oxford Song artist for 2026/7. Daniel was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music and won all the major prizes for accompaniment.
