Epiphany Sunday was chosen by Kirrilee as her last service because she wanted to see Advent and Christmas through beforehand. The church on the day was pretty well full as the congregation and many others whose lives had been touched by Kirrilee came together to hear her conduct her final communion and preach for the last time at All Saints'. It could very easily have been a deeply emotional affair, but Kirrilee displayed her usual spiritual strength and light sense of humour which made it all the easier for those who attended.
After the service, most went on to the Glencarse Hotel for a soup and sandwich lunch, where everyone was able to say their own words of appreciation and thanks to Kirrilee in person.
Kirrilee is now taking a 3-month Sabbatical, but will be staying in the rectory until April. She plans to be in Lesbos for the next few months, and when she returns in April, a further event will be held to celebrate her time at All Saints', at which a presentation will be made to her. Notification of this will be put up on the Noticboard in due course.
We thank you, Kirrilee, for your spiritual guidance, your ability to make us sing, your direction in helping us work as a whole and break down stigmas that historically have surrounded the Episcopal Church in this small community. Your values and your approach to life show you to be a true servant of God.
