The Venerable Canon Dr. Ian Young MBE has been rector at All Saints' for five years. Ian trained in Theology at Edinburgh University and thereafter served at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Inverness. Following that, he went out to the Middle East where he was based for more than twenty three years, culminating in his appointment as Archdeacon of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf from 1999-2006 and Provincial Secretary of the Province of Jerusalem and Middle East from 2003-2007. On his retirement in 2007, Ian returned to Scotland and, being based between his own house in Perth and his sister's in Inverkeithing, has taken services at the interregnum charges of St. John's Episcopal Church in Forfar and St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church in Leven.
Before training for the ministry, Ian taught music in schools in Fife and Aberdeenshire and since returning from the Middle East has been a part-time music teacher in schools in Perthshire. For five years, he directed three choirs for the National Youth Choir of Scotland and holds diplomas from the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music in London. He also studied choral conducting and directing at the Juilliard School in New York.
